On the 21st of September 2022, a meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Lucian Nicolae BODE, with a delegation of the Commission for Civil Liberties, Justice and Internal Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament took place at the headquarters of the MIA, in the context of an official visit that it is carrying out in Poland and Romania.
The discussions focused upon the issue of managing, at the national level, the situation determined by the conflict in Ukraine.
The Minister of Internal Affairs reviewed the prompt actions of the Romanian authorities undertaken in reaction to the challenges generated by the large flow of displaced persons from Ukraine.
The members of the LIBE Commission expressed their appreciation for the efforts carried out at the national level to manage this humanitarian crisis and assured the Romanian authorities of the full support of the European Parliament for finding common solutions to this unprecedented situation.
The subject of Romania’s accession to the Schengen area was also discussed with the members of the EP, the Romanian Minister of Internal Affairs expressing thanks for the constant support of the European Parliament towards the achievement of this objective.
