The Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Nicolae Bode, attended, today, April the 3rd, a military ceremony dedicated to the Day of the Romanian Gendarmerie, military and traditional structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
„In the 173 years since its establishment, the Romanian Gendarmerie has done its duty with devotion during difficult historical periods. In complicated times from a geopolitical point of view, such as those we are going through now, a national military structure, which is responsible for the safety of citizens, is an additional guarantee of stability,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The official dignitary also sent thanks and congratulations to all the Romanian gendarmes for the missions carried out in the service of the citizens, adding: „I have great confidence in your professionalism and integrity and I want you to remain the same strong structure that Romanians can rely on when needed”.
On the occasion of today’s ceremony, the Minister of Internal Affairs decorated the Battle Flags of eleven military units of the Romanian Gendarmerie and conferred honorary distinctions, including the „Honorary Gendarme of the Year”. This was awarded to chief adjutant platoon sergeant Martinescu Pricopie, from the Gorj Gendarmerie County Inspectorate, for saving a person’s life. While on duty at the Motru Court, our 50-year-old colleague immediately intervened when a person suddenly fell to the ground and performed resuscitation maneuvers for about 10 minutes, until the first vital signs appeared.
At the end of the ceremony dedicated to the Day of the Romanian Gendarmerie, Minister Lucian Nicolae Bode urged all employees of this structure to follow the guiding line of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ activity: respect for the law and for citizens!
