The meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Nicolae Bode, with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Ana REVENCO

On the sidelines of the „Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum” event taking place in Bucharest on May 18th-19th, 2023, Mr. Lucian Nicolae BODE, Minister of Internal Affairs, had a meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Minister Ana REVENCO.

The discussion focused on the latest developments recorded in the context of bilateral cooperation and at the EU level in the field of internal affairs.

The two officials noted the progress made in the framework of joint projects, especially those dedicated to streamlining traffic at the Romanian border with the Republic of Moldova, with an emphasis on achieving coordinated control at the Albița (Romania) – Leușeni (Republic of Moldova) road state border crossing point, on the direction of entry into Romania.

The progresses made in bilateral police cooperation, as well as in the field of police training from the Republic of Moldova, was also reviewed.

Another important issue in the current regional context was aimed at strengthening the security of the Republic of Moldova, very important being the increase and strengthening of resilience facing the hybrid threats and those in cyberspace.

From her part, Mrs. Minister Ana REVENCO thanked for the support and expertise provided by the Romanian MIA in the field of internal affairs, including in the context of the EU accession process.

During the discussions, the Romanian dignitary emphasized on the importance of the further development of cooperation between the EU member states, Moldova and Ukraine to reduce criminal risks and threats and reiterated the support of the MAI for the development of the activities of the EU Support Center for internal security and border management in the Republic of Moldova (Security Hub).

At the end of the meeting, the commitment of the two parties to act for the effective implementation of joint measures aimed at contributing to ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens of Romania and the Republic of Moldova was reaffirmed.
