To date, on April 2nd, in Romania, 964.726 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.
862.137 patients were declared cured.
Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 5.808 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below.

*Regarding the “new cases not allocated by counties”, we specify that their number is determined by the changes brought to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralized. Thus, according to the new methodology, the testing centers directly introduce the results of the tests performed, and the epidemiological investigation will be performed at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases will be assigned to the county / locality to which the infected persons belong.
The coefficient of infections accumulated at 14 days, reported per 1.000 inhabitants is calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of Bucharest Municipality and counties. Below you have the graph based on the reports received by CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:
Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 1.072 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below.

To date, 23.819 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
Between 01.04.2021 (10:00) – 02.04.2021 (10:00), were reported 145 deaths (82 men and 63 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Călărași, Cluj, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.
Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, 6 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 10 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 33 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 63 deaths in the age group 70-79 years and 32 deaths in the category over 80 years.
136 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, 2 deceased patients did not present comorbidities, and for 7 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.
In the specialized health units, the total number of persons hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13.476. Of these, 1.454 are hospitalized at Intensive care Units.
To date, 6.773.863 RT-PCR tests and 626.221 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 29.258 RT-PCR tests were performed (16.946 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 12.312 on request) and 10.476 rapid antigen tests.
In Romania, 68.924 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 16.343 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 58.218 people are in quarantine at home, and 108 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 4.925 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 617 on the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on April 1, 6.577 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 1.718.080 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police,5 criminal files were drawn up yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.
We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.
The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 23.496 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 2,542 in Italy, 16,773 in Spain, 195 in the United Kingdom, 125 in France, 3,118 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 37 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the USA, 8 in Sweden, 137 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 46 in Switzerland , 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 7 in Bulgaria, 13 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 5 in Ukraine, 8 in United Arab Emirates, 13 in Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 218 in Ireland, 3 in Singapore, 3 in Tunisia, 8 in the Republic of Korea, 2 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2 in Serbia and one each in Argentina, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, Slovenia , Russian Federation and Croatia. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic until now, 189 Romanian citizens abroad, 34 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 60 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, 5 in Ireland, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Austria, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo, one in Greece and one in Iran, have died.
Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.

Between 25 March 2021 – 1 April 2021, 26.393.414 cases were reported in the EU / EEA. Most cases have been reported in France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
As of 15 December, the CEPCB has stopped publishing data on the number of confirmed cases and the number of deceased citizens, both in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra and globally. These reports are updated weekly.
