Ministry of Internal Affairs responds to the flash appeal launched at European level and has forces ready to be sent to Australia

At EU level, the Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM) was activated, following widespread fires in Australia.

The European Union Emergency Response Coordination Center (ERCC) launched an appeal, tonight, to the Member States, requiring the communicating as soon as possible of the resources they can make available for deployment to intervene in Australia.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Ion Marcel Vela, has informed the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Ludovic Orban, about the request of the Center for Coordination of the Emergency Response of the European Union, which ordered the transmission of information regarding the human and logistical resources that can be prepared for dislocation in Australia.

The President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, was informed about the resources available in our country and conveyed that, following the requests, Romania would offer assistance in the shortest time.

As a result of the activation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, a reserve of disaster intervention and rescue forces will be set up at the level of the European Union, provided by countries with capabilities in the field, which Australian officials can fully or partially access, as necessary and according to the evolution of the situation in this state.
