Between February 26th and 29th, 2024, at the invitation of the Internal Public Audit Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Her Excellency Mrs. Parisa SALEHI – federal general inspector, carried out an official visit to Romania, together with a delegation from the Office of the General Inspector of EXIM Bank from United States of America (EXIM – OGI).
The visit program included meetings with representatives of the MIA management, the Internal Public Audit Directorate, the Romanian Police, the General Anti-corruption Directorate, the General Financial Directorate and the General Logistics Directorate, the aim being to achieve an exchange of experience with the MIA experts on topics circumscribed to the field of public audit internal and fraud investigation. These concerned relevant information regarding the specific competencies and activities, the process of planning and carrying out internal audit missions, as well as other aspects in the field of fraud investigation.
At the same time, workshops were held in the field of internal public audit, attended by representatives of the Court of Accounts of Romania, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as visits to relevant institutions such as the Court of Accounts of Romania, the Center of International Police Cooperation and the Cernavodă branch of the Nuclearelectrica National Society.
The activities carried out and the dialogue with the American cooperation partners created the premises for the expansion of collaboration and the development of specific initiatives, the implementation of joint projects aimed at supporting the increase in the level of transparency and responsibility, the provision of assistance and access to specialized training, simultaneously promoting the efficient use of public funds. The visit, carried out with the support of the US Embassy in Bucharest, marked an important progress in strengthening the cooperative relations between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and relevant institutions in the United States of America.
