Until today, on October 23rd , in Romania, 201.032 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

144.429 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 5.028  new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below.

The coefficient of infections accumulated at 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants, calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the level of Bucharest Municipality and counties is the following:

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive 876 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by counties of these cases can be found in the table below.

Until today, 6.245 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 22.10.2020 (10:00) – 23.10.2020 (10:00), 82 deaths (52 men and 30 women) were reported, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Galați, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 5 deaths were recorded in the age category 40-49 years, years 6 deaths were recorded in the age category 50-59 years, 22 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 25 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 25 deaths in the age category of over 80 years.

81 deaths were from patients with comorbidities, 1 patients did not presented comorbidities.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 10.427. Of these, 782 are hospitalized at intensive care units.

To date, 3.002.800 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 35.351 were performed in the last 24 hours, 22.018 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 13.333 upon request. Also, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 5,887 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until October 23rd were reported.

In Romania, 24.199 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 9.725  people are in institutional isolation. Also, 50.658  people are in quarantine at home, and 52 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 2.617 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 912 calls to TELVERDE (0800 800 358), open telephone line for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 6.316 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to  857.413 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 9 crimes were found yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.

The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,851 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,934 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,017 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain , 36 in Hungary, 28 in Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 9 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 7 in the United Arab Emirates and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Congo, Qatar, Vatican and Portugal . Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in France, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

As of 22nd October 2020, 5.339.149 cases have been reported in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases have been reported in the Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany.
