To date, on October 9th, 1.346.240 cases of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been registered in Romania, of which 3.598 are from reinfected patients, tested positive for more than 180 days after the first infection. .
1.172.139 patients were declared cured.
In the last 24 hours, 14.019 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, of which 191 are of reinfected patients, tested positive for more than 180 days after the first infection.

*Regarding the “new cases not allocated by counties”, we specify that their number is determined by the changes brought to the electronic platform through which the test results for the new coronavirus are reported and centralised. Thus, according to the new methodology, the testing centers directly introduce the results of the tests performed, and the epidemiological investigation will be performed at the level of the Public Health Directorates and the positive cases will be assigned to the county / locality to which the infected persons belong.
** Regarding the cases from abroad, these are cases of some citizens who came to Romania being infected in other countries. These cases were included in the total number of new cases not allocated by counties.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 1.292 people were reconfirmed positively. The distribution by county of these cases can be found in the table below.

To date, 39.209 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
Between 08.10.2021 (10:00) – 09.10.2021 (10:00) were reported by INSP 282 deaths (134 men and 148 women), of which 3 deaths before the reference interval, of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in hospitals in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Buzău, Caraș-Severin, Călărași, Constanța, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomi , Iași, Ilfov, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vâlcea, Vrancea and Bucharest.
Of the 282 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category 0-9 years, 1 in the age category 20-29 years, 2 in the age category 30-39 years, 17 in the age category 40-49 years, 38 in the age category 50-59 years, 67 in the age category 60-69 years, 88 in the age category 70-79 years and 68 in the age category over 80 years.
244 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities, 14 deceased patients did not register comorbidities, and for 24 deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.
There are reported 3 deaths prior to the reference interval, produced in September 2021, of some patients from Bacău, Sălaj and Teleorman counties. In the reference interval (last 24 hours) 279 deaths were registered.
Out of a total of 282 patients who died, 272 were unvaccinated and 10 were vaccinated. Vaccinated deceased patients ranged in age from 45 to 87 years. Of the vaccinated deceased patients, 9 had comorbidities and 1 had no comorbidities.
In the specialised health units, the total number of people hospitalised with COVID-19 is 15.550. Of these, 1.593 are hospitalised at Intensive Care Units.
Out of the total number of hospitalised patients, 411 are minors, 383 being hospitalised in medical departments and 28 in Intensive Care Units.
To date, 9.818.833 RT-PCR tests and 3.609.596 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 23.392 RT-PCR tests were performed (12.862 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 11.530 on request) and 43.218 rapid antigen tests.
On the Romanian territory, 103.817 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 14.475 people are in institutionalised isolation. Also, 63.551 people are in quarantine at home, and 250 people are in institutionalised quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 7.427 calls were registered to the unique emergency number 112 and 694 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open especially for informing citizens.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on October 8th, 1.447 sanctions for minor offences, amounting to 230.475 lei.
Also, through the competent structures of the Police, 3 criminal files were drawn up yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.
We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalised, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified.
The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.
Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 23.753 Romanian citizens were confirmed to be infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 2,543 in Italy, 16,946 in Spain, 198 in the United Kingdom, 129 in France, 3,124 in Germany, 95 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 37 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 5 in the USA, 8 in Sweden, 145 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 75 in Switzerland, 4 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus , 8 in Bulgaria, 23 in Cyprus, 4 in India, 5 in Ukraine, 8 in United Arab Emirates, 17 in Republic of Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 218 in Ireland, 5 in Singapore, 5 in Tunisia, 10 in Korea, 2 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2 in Serbia, 3 in Croatia and one each in Argentina, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, the Republic of the Congo, Qatar, the Vatican, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, Slovenia, the Russian Federation, Finland, Poland and Kuwait and Nigeria. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 194 Romanian citizens abroad, 37 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 60 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, 3 in Sweden, 5 in Ireland, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Austria, one in the USA, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of Congo, one in Greece, one in Iran, one in Poland and one in Bulgaria, have died.
Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.

Between September 30, 2021 – October 7, 2021, 38.546.503 cases were reported in the EU / EEA. Most cases have been reported in France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
As of 15 December, the CEPCB has stopped publishing data on the number of confirmed cases and the number of deceased citizens, both in the EU / EEA, the United Kingdom, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra and globally. These reports are updated weekly.
