Romania hosts the Ministerial Conference of Salzburg Forum, as President-in-Office of the Forum

Ministers of Home Affairs from six European countries, representatives of the management of the Ministries of Home Affairs and of diplomatic missions from nine others countries and directors of law enforcement agencies from European Union will approach, for two days, key topics for the Union, concerning the collective security of the Member States.

The Conference’s participants will discuss the strengthening of police cooperation in the region, the development of the European Strategy for Integrated Border Management and the adjustment of law enforcement agencies’ response to the particularities of the current security environment, with a focus on border security management and on fighting transnational organised crime.

EUROPOL Director, Ms. Catherine De Bolle, on her first visit to Romania, will be among the attendees, participating for the first time to the Salzburg Forum in her capacity as director.

Furthermore, the Director of EUROPOL will have a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ms. Carmen Dan, and with the management of the Romanian Police, on Friday, during the conference.

The Salzburg Forum was founded in 2000, at Austria’s initiative, and functions as a partnership for security and cooperation in Central Europe, bringing together the home affairs ministries of the 9 member states: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Since 2007, the Group of Friends’ member states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) and Republic of Moldova have been invited to attend the Forum’s works.

On Friday, June 15th, 2018, around 12.00 a.m., on the last day of the Ministerial Conference, the representatives of the media will be granted access in the meeting room in order to take pictures during the working session. Later, starting 13.30 hrs., a press release will be held.

In order to be granted access inside Parliament’s Palace, it is mandatory to carry the National ID Card.
