Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, meeting with the new ambassador of France, H.E. Nicolas Warnery: discussions about operational cooperation, Schengen and OECD

On November 28th, 2023, Mr. Cătălin Predoiu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, had a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Nicolas Warnery, the new ambassador of the French Republic in Bucharest.

On this occasion, the Romanian dignitary emphasized the excellent collaborative relationship between the two states in the field of police cooperation, emergency situations, gendarmerie, as well as the existing premises for its development. In this regard, he highlighted the important role that the Romanian police missions on the territory of the French Republic have in the operational cooperation, which will continue in the next period.

Minister Predoiu thanked the French side representative for the constant support offered in order to achieve some important national goals for Romania, such as joining the Schengen area and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

H.E. Mr. Nicolas Warnery pointed out the main objectives of his mandate, reconfirming the importance he attaches to deepening the bilateral relationship that has linked the two states for over a century and a half. He underlined the excellent operational cooperation with all MIA structures, on all fields of activity, and expressed his belief that the highly efficient way of working so far will continue in the future. Internal security is a common „good”, a very important subject for both states, but also for the European Union as a whole. Regarding Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, he expressed France’s firm and active support for achieving this goal, for which our country has made all possible efforts.

In conclusion, the two officials expressed their commitment to the continuation of cooperation in the same positive manner and its development in areas of common interest.
