Videoconference meeting between the Ministers of Internal Affairs from Romania and the Republic of Moldova regarding bilateral cooperation

On July 27th, 2023, a videoconference meeting took place between Mr. Cătălin Predoiu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, and Mr. Adrian Efros, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

On this occasion, the two ministers discussed the priorities in the field of internal affairs, with an emphasis on the continuation of ongoing projects and the identification of new ways to improve cooperation.

One of the topics addressed was that of traffic streamlining, the interlocutors agreeing that a rigorous analysis of the measures adopted so far is necessary to consider all options, and efficient and targeted investments in medium and long-term measures are needed. Also, Minister Efros requested Romania’s support for the implementation of public warning systems (of the RO-ALERT type) for the population in case of emergency situations, the Romanian side ensuring him that he will support this issue.

Minister Predoiu emphasized the importance of strengthening the security of the Republic of Moldova and reconfirmed the steady commitment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to support the Republic of Moldova’s European pathway.

In conclusion, the Republic of Moldova’s Minister of Internal Affairs thanked the Romanian side for the constant support at all levels of the activity of the Republic of Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, and expressed the belief that in the next period cooperation in the sectoral field of internal affairs will be stimulated.
