The message of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Nicolae Bode, on the occasion of the International Day of Firefighters:
Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we show our appreciation to those who literally go through the fire for us and protect us from disasters. At the same time, we honor the sacrifices made by firefighters everywhere, some even at the cost of their lives!
Regardless of the language they speak, their nationality or the color of their uniform, rescuers around the world have the same purpose – saving lives.
International Firefighters’ Day is another occasion to thank them for all they do for us, the citizens. I have seen them so many times in difficult actions that I can say that being a firefighter is more than a job, it is a vocation, and they, the rescuers, are chosen people. They take risks for our safety and do so with great dedication and skill.
Today, my thoughts go out to each of them and I thank them for the superhuman effort they put in every day, especially in this difficult time we are going through these days.
Happy birthday, dear saviors! You have all our appreciation and gratitude.
